If the importer does not want to use the entire stock immediately or he is not in a position to pay the full customs duty leviable on the goods, he can file an into bond bill of entry for warehousing the goods. Public warehouses run by Central Warehousing Corporation or by State Warehousing Corporations have come up at all important centres. In certain cases, customs allow licencing of private bonded warehouse also. It is not necessary to produce a ‘no objection certificate’ from Public Bonded Warehouse for the purpose of getting a private bonded warehouse licence. Close customs supervision is exercised over warehouses.
